CDWInc. Technique Curriculum

Pre-Ballet & Modern Movement

Pre-Ballet and Modern Movement for Kids explore basic developmental movement such as skipping, hopping, bending and stretching in a structured class. Children learn to take turns, use movement that crosses the midline and participate in a group setting utilizing creative games and music to support fun learning.

Leveled Ballet

Our leveled ballet classes begin at Ballet 1 and graduate at Ballet 7. Our teachers create lesson plans that incorporate a structured barre, center work and combinations that travel across the floor - increasing the students' vocabulary, flexibility, strength and stamina with each level. Pointe work is evaluated on an individual basis.

Pointe, Variations and Partnering

Pointe and Variations Classes require participation in Ballet Level 5 and above. These supplementary classes are designed for the dancer who desires to improve their pointe technique, learn classical variations and ensemble pieces and, explore their personal artistry.

Partnering class is by invitation from Ballet 6 and 7. CDWInc. will be offering an incentive to local male dancers with appropriate ballet technique to join us for this class.

Modern and Contemporary

In Modern and Contemporary, dancers will be introduced to movement on the floor and in the center through varying modern techniques such as Horton, Graham, Laban Movement Analysis, Limon and others. Music will vary from classical to world to contemporary artists to broaden the students' auditory and movement experience. Vocabulary and technique will increase with each level mastering off-center work, combinations that travel through space and rhythmically intricate movement that branches into different time signatures.

Jazz and Tap

In Tap, dancers will learn basic footwork for Rhythm Tap and Broadway styles. Combinations will increase in length by level including time steps, riffs, turns, pull-backs, wings and other intricate footwork.

Jazz  class will utilize the framework of the Giordano and Luigi techniques as well as current teaching methods. These classes will explore classical and contemporary jazz, center work to develop stamina, strength and varied styles including Broadway Jazz, Lyrical and more.

Progressing Ballet Technique

This conditioning class, taught by certified teacher, Karin Heiden, incorporates floor and barre work with exercise bands, exercise balls, balancing equipment and more. Classes will be offered for students in Ballet 3B and above and for Adults seeking to add core strengthening and flexibility to their fitness routine.
